 A good, long-term reference book May 31, 2008

While not necessarily a classic reloading guide, the ABC's of Reloading is a good, standard reloading reference that I turn back to on a regular basis.
If you are an experienced reloader, ABC's probably will not tell you more than you will learn by experience, reading, or the other manuals you have referenced along the way. However, what if you have only reloaded for rifle, and want some new ideas on pistol loads? Or, if you are new to shotgunning and have never reloaded shotshells? ABC's handles rifle, pistol and shotgun reloading techniques, including step-by-step photos and drawings of how everything works. I've found them very valuable when looking for a new (old) idea for several reloading projects and problems.
If you are expecting a detailed analysis of single-caliber loading techniques or effectiveness, I don't think you will find it here. Then again, I haven't seen very many books which do so to the extent that a serious reloader would like--"Loadbooks" included. ABC's intent seems to be to cover the basics of reloading technique, some good, general-purpose articles on ballistics, problems, and situations, and some great trouble-avoidance articles which have helped me several times.
Examples: Have a full-choked shotgun and want to spread out the patterns? ABC's has an article on that. Want your shotgun to shoot lighter loads? ABC's discusses that as well. For the rifle shooter, ABC's talks about reduced-load and cheaper-load ideas. For pistol shooters, there are articles on target loads and revolver loading. ABC's has 21 chapters OUTSIDE the basics, and no annoying "pretty picture" catalogue--it is 99% instructional, with a small "Directory of the Reloading Trade" in the back.
ABC's is not my favorite reloading book, and the data for actual loads is rather limited. However, from a conceptual and trouble-shooting standpoint, it contains much more information than most standard reloading manuals. For this reason, I can recommend ABC's as a worthwhile reloading reference book.

This is a great book to jump start your reloading knowledge. The author assumes little to no knowledge on the subject. He covers the basics in readily understandable terms.

Who is using equipment from Lee, or part of them, those should buy this book. Inside this book beginner can find basic instruction ***How to reloading *** with Lee stuff.
I bought it and after first reading I put it just into shelf and when I am looking some ideas how to improve my reloading usually I grab Speer or Nosler manuals or searching on chatting groups on Internet.
Also who is just starting reloader - can find here help.

This was the first reloading book I purchsed when I became interested in reloading. The style of the book was well written and easy to pick up for novices such as myself. It is nice to know that this book was written by an expert for everybody.
I enjoyed reading about the various forms of reloading. Though I was interested in only handgun reloading, the book fully explains other forms of reloading as well as bullet casting. The pictures were a big help and did not get in the way. I also liked some of the side stories. They helped to elaborate, not detract from a point the author was making.
Obviously, I would not recommend this book as a general read for people. It is clear that this book was meant soley for the reloader and those interested in the subject. But if you want to temp somebody to consider reloading for accuracy or economy, buy them this book.

I would strongly recommend this book for anyone who is going to begin to reload ammo. I am an avid gunsmith and reloaded and I find this book grate for reference. I think everyone reloading should have this book.
