| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The author, who spent his career studying trajectories of nuclear missles and artillery shells, wrote this work after becoming dissatisfied with the accuracy of commercial rifles. Through years of research, he examined a variety of gunsmithing and handloading issues in search of the ultimate in rifle accuracy, including barrel-receiver joint motion, barrel vibration and rigidity, chamber and throat design, case neck tension, and bullet imbalance.

Rifle Accuracy Facts September 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
An excellent book. Great detail of what happens in a rifle when a shot is taken. Very technical but presented in a way that is very easy to understand. Opinions of the author are clearly separated from the facts he has gathered.
my first order 2007 May 13, 2007 0 out of 21 found this review helpful
I believe it will be a great book, but NONE of these books has arrived at this time. Also, I have tried to use the tracking system and gone in circles with it until disgusted. This is the first time I have had a problem with your service, hope you can fix it for me. ps. a bit hard to review if it hasn't come yet, but I have read it before.
Differentiating between actual fact and snake oil November 10, 2005 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have read all sorts of conventional wisdom concerning making rifles more accurate. I would probably classify most conventional wisdom on gun accuracy at 40% snake oil and 60% as "possibly containing elements of fact" The trouble with it is that most people are just going by what other people say worked for them, or what other people heard..... and even worse, their rifles are not particularly accurate anyway because of low quality construction or inconsistent ammo.
Harold did significant studies over years of research to determine critical factors to rifle accuracy. Some of his findings make sense, and some fly against conventional wisdom... The difference being that his findings are based on statistical analysis of actual research.
I tried out a number of his findings, and am very pleased with the results.
I put this book at the top of the list in terms of "Must Reads" if you are interested in building an accurate rifle -- especially if you are getting ready to shell out money on a rifle project.
Great science and meaningfull information September 11, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you do not know much about rifles but want to see good science done through effective experimentation, this book is great. As a new Enfield rifle shooter, I found this book gave solid answers to the questions I have heard debated at the range. I have heard and read about barrel whip, but this man examined the question, measured the phenomenom and derived a solution. He then implemented the solution and could show it worked. I enjoyed the entire book and after reading it a second time I realized there was more information then I noticed during the first reading. Money well spent.

Very informative book written from an engineering perspective. Some very detailed electrical circuitry that is over my head. Son-in-law who is an engineer could not put the book down. Overall a very good book.
