Product Description
Anarctica is the last unconquered continent, a murderous expanse of howling winds, blinding whiteouts and deadly crevasses. On one edge of Antarctica is Wilkes Station. Beneath Wilkes Station is the gate to hell itself...
A team of U.S. divers, exploring three thousand feet beneath the ice shelf has vanished. Sending out an SOS, Wilkes draws a rapid deployment team of Marines-and someone else...
First comes a horrific firefight. Then comes a plunge into a drowning pool filled with killer whales. Next comes the hard part, as a handful of survivors begin an electrifying, red-hot, non-stop battle of survival across the continent and against wave after wave of elite military assassins-who've all come for one thing: a secret buried deep beneath the ice...

Human Superman October 24, 2008 Look out Clark Kent there's a new SUPERMAN in paperback, Scarecrow is the man the behind the glasses, non stop action, full throttle page turner
Great beach read October 21, 2008 I read this book while lying on the beach ... in Australia! It was a perfect escapist experience, easy to read, and honestly I could not put it down. Finished in a day and a half. Sometimes I'm in the mood for serious literature and sometimes I don't. This book is like watching one of those over-the-top, all-out action movies: suspend your disbelief; sit back; relax; go with it. It's a wild ride.
Disappointing October 6, 2008 I had read Temple and enjoyed it so had great hopes for this one. My Dad tried to read it first and gave up after two chapters - I managed to finish but only by skipping large portions of the book. There are many glaring errors (killer whales that attack & eat people? A woman with a bit-off leg swimming for miles in salt water?) and WAY to much repetition, exclamation, etc. I would not recommend this book unless you are really feeling brainless and bored.
Action Hyperthriller September 17, 2008 This was the first Matt Reilly novel I read, and it's still the best. From beginning to end, Reilly offers a non-stop thrill-ride. High octane action all the way, and un-put-downable!

Pretty Good Thriller - Very Rollinsesque September 15, 2008 I had been disappointed in Seven Deadly Wonders. However, I decided to try Ice Station because I've always liked Antarctic Thrillers. And you know what, this wasn't half bad. The action was intense, and more importantly, correct in it's realism. Many thriller authors have little or no understanding of the US Military. However, Matt Reilly does have the knowledge and understanding of not only the US military, but of some of the European militaries, as well.
One thing that I liked in this novel that wasn't well done in Seven Deadly Wonders was the character development. In Wonders, Reilly is constantly going off on tangents when attempting to detail the characters. In Ice Station, it's done much more smoothly and it reads much better.
Probably the only thing I didn't like about the book was the US Military conspiracy theory, but hey, that's what helped make the story.
