Social Graces January 15, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If anyone wants to 'polish up' their manners and etiquette. This book is highly recommended. Well written, user friendly and beautifully illustrated. A book to be treasured.
It is also a great book to pass down to your children.
Aren't charm and manners available to everyone? October 1, 2006 38 out of 56 found this review helpful
This book is DEFINITELY for you if you want your coaching in the social graces served up with a generous dollop of Christianity, including a story of a cook who prayed "Dear Lord, You are in the redemption business. Please redeem this turkey". However, if you're like me, preferring etiquette books to be available to all, regardless of faith, you may want to look elsewhere for a book dealing with charm and manners.
Loved this book April 6, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I loved reading this book. It is well written and everything in it is useful. Parts of it bring back memories of my childhood. I wish we could all slow down, remember our etiquette and be more gracious.
Help for the Hillbilly August 27, 2001 39 out of 50 found this review helpful
Social Graces was a big help in knowing how to tip waitresses, bell boys, ect... Working in a tourist town and knowing who to tip or not can sometimes be a concern for most people. Especially for those of us that don't get out of the hills much, so the book was very helpful. I would like to see more manner books on social conversation and answering gracefully in difficult situations. So keep writing Aunts! (You will understand that statement when you read the book!) Buy it today.
Social Graces June 7, 2000 73 out of 83 found this review helpful
Once upon a time, children learned social skills around the family dining table. With today's busy schedules and often so many mothers working, families find less time for such traditions. Experts on hospitality and warm sociability, Ann Platz and Susan Wales provide readers with an easy-to-follow how-to manual of social graces. Learning the rules of etiquette is possible with Social Graces. This charming book makes life easier and more fun, and also helps instill a sense of self-confidence. Life is like a game, if you don't know the rules, you can't succeed in life. It's important to remember, however, that the rules of etiquette are of the book; manners are of the heart.
