Product Description Home storage accessories make up a multi-billion dollar industry in America. Just imagine how much money you could save by learning new, imaginative ways to store things in your home, garage or attic. THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO HOME STORAGE includes ingenious ways to make use of overlooked space, as well as simple, easy-to-build designs for the most popular storage projects, such as closet organizers, built-in shelving units and entertainment centers. The book includes more than 65 build-it-yourself projects with complete plan diagrams, directions, and how-to photos. Organized in easy-to-use fashion, this book includes five sections developed around popular storage themes: utility storage, clothing, food and dishware, recreational, and display storage. Also included is a general technique section that shows the basics of box and cabinet construction, which will help readers modify any design in the book, or create their own unique storage projects. Here's what makes this book a necessity: **Includes more than 600 color photos and 65 plan diagrams. **Projects are designed for beginning to intermediate do-it-yourselfers, and require no elaborate, expensive stationary tools. **Featured projects include complete instructions for framing and finishing a closet, building an attractive entertainment center, and plans for a floor-to-ceiling library that can be customized to fit each individual room. **Shows how to frame, finish and organize a brand-new closet - solving one of the most pressing storage problems, especially in older homes. **It's the newest addition to Cpi's best selling "Complete Guide" series, the books that have taught many people to take care of masonry, plumbing, wiring, landscaping, decks, painting & decorating, and other household projects.

A great book for it's intended audience. May 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Those that are criticizing this book, are out of line. The book is very well written and and well illustrated with color photographs and drawings. The book not only covers the 50 projects it details, but there is also a lot of information on tools, techniques, materials, and other referance information.
Two of the former reviews mention that the project on the cover, is not in the book, that is true and it is unfortuneate. However, there is a variety of projects, some much more complex that the one on the cover, and if you read and understand the book, you could build the project on the cover, there is nothing special about it, that is not covered in the book. After all, the project on the cover, is just wooden boxes, sheesh!. My suggestion to those people - "Never judge a book by it's cover."
The book is intended for the beginning to intermediate home carpenter, the type that buys the tools Black and Decker makes. Those who are more expert/professional, probably have Dewalt and Bosch tools, and should not need this book. You can figure out which category you are in.
That being said, even a master builder, sometimes can use ideas and inspiration, and this book has them.
The book is okay March 18, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book was okay but a little disappointing. I will probably use some of the information out of it.
I wish I'd seen the previous review. July 19, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like the guy from Florida, I was enticed by the picture on the cover. But there was nothing like that inside. The contents were much simpler plywood constructions that were far less sophisticated. Bait and switch indeed. This book was not what I wanted. I'm going to send it back.
This book gives you what it says it will.... May 8, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this book and didn't know what to expect based on the other 2 reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I are building our first house and we will be finishing our own basement. This book is giving us some great ideas for that along with other storage solutions. It gives you great color pictures, a list of needed supplies (tools, materials, etc)and step by step instructions. I am not much of a cabinet maker, but the steps are simple enough that I plan on doing some of these projects myself! Some ideas are pretty simple and basic (like the under the steps storage shelf) but it is a great idea that is practical and uses space that probably would have been totally wasted. This book gave me exactly what I wanted and more. My husband, who has made lots of furniture in the past, was also very impressed and rates this book a 5!Do yourself a favor and buy this one before getting another book on cabinets and built-ins. I bought the others first only to see that this one covers all of that info and more.
I don't get it... March 6, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Overall the book is fine. Plenty of interesting projects inside. However, much to my dismay, the step bookshelf pictured on the cover is nowhere to be found inside the book. That was pretty much the reason I purchased the book in the first place... Bait and Switch?!?
