I bought this book because I thought that it was a Christian based book. I was very disappointed in it. To me it was nothing but New Age and Hinduism and I felt like it contradicted the Bible on several points.

The god which Young writes is not the self-contained God of the Bible. I fear Young does not know the one who is the dread sovereign of the universe. His god is a god he has created in his own image; after the likeness of creation. In fact, I would go so far as to say Young's god is a souped up finite god much like the false god of Mormonism. It is a shame that a scholar like Eugene Peterson would endorse this work. Christian need to be reminded of this admonition by the Apostle Paul,
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." II Corinthians 11:13-15
(For those of you who have itching ears and believe that The Shack is a wonderful book, the above is a quote from the Bible. You know, that Big book sitting on your top shelf with dust all over it!)

This book should be on every coffee table in the world. I was able to draw many parallels from my own experiences.
As an author myself, I will absolutely declare that this book is superbly written in a most eloquent manner. Expressing so much in just a paragraph, that I had to pause and reflect often.
I read a lot of books each year and this one by far has rocked my world, by confirming some beliefs that I have.
It's the best explanation of Love, the Trinty and the Matrix I've ever encountered.
I've bought numerous copies to share and I'll be reading it again.

I know that most peope will not believe this but I found this book as a sample on my kindle but have no recollection of downloading it. I am not greatly religious but have always believed in God. I have never had something asthe evil portrayed in this book touch my life. I do know that I liked how the Holy Trinity were described and the book made me feel good inside! Can't that be enough? There is no reason to tear it apart or compare it to the Bible. I don't believe that was its intent. Just enjoy the story and let the goodness fill your heart - that's what I plan to do.
You Have To Read This Book July 6, 2008
Wow, where do I start. If you will read just one book this year, I whole heartily recommend The Shack. It was sad, moving, powerful and enlightening. It's profound! I read it in 2 days, it's not a big book, but it has a big impact. This book touched my heart in a way that I didn't expect and can't really explain. It's fiction that seems so real that you can't help but get caught up in the humanity of it.
