Product Description
This book is one of the few books on the market that explains the bullet flight from chamber to target in simple, easy terms and explains how to be a better shooter. Ballistics can be a tough subject for persons not trained in ballistic science. Most rifle sportsmen and hunters have interest in improving their shooting accuracy, but don

3 out of 5 stars Basic intro to the ballistics of shooting   May 21, 2008

This thin booklet (67 pages of text) contains a basic description of the physics of shooting. Don't worry, it isn't a detailed or technical description, the material in this text should be accessible to pretty much everyone. Johnson describes what happens to a bullet as it leaves your barrel, what happens to the barrel, and what happens to the target when it is hit by the bullet. The most useful aspect of this book is that it explains bullet drop in detail: what forces act on a bullet when it is fired, differences between the bullet path and line of sight through the scope, etc. There are some discussion on choice of ammunition (brands, cartridges, etc.) safety, and maintenance, but these are all real basic. The reason that I give this book three stars is that most of the information is fairly basic can easily be found on the internet. I don't know if it is worth spending $11.95 for this thin book. A half hour with Google would pretty much find you everything that is contained within this book. If you're looking for a good explanation of ballistic tables, this may be valuable. If you're looking for some guidance on how to drive tacks at 100 yds with your .22 LR, or you want detailed information on how to correct for a strong cross-breeze at 300 yds with a .30-06, look elsewhere.

4 out of 5 stars A Very Informative read   December 30, 2007

This book did an effective job of breaking down the science of shooting into Common terms that most can understand. I feel that this book has helped improve my shooting skills, and went into the depth that I think was missing from my shooting of big game.
