Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Pretty Basic   May 12, 2008
This thin booklet is a reprint of a much older (1950s era? maybe earlier, I'm not sure) NRA document on the basics of rifle marksmanship. If you are a total newbie to shooting, you may find this booklet interesting, but for the price of this book you're half way to buying a brick of .22 LR and you'll probably learn more putting several hundred rounds through the gun than you would reading this book. This booklet may have been useful before the internet, but nearly all the information contained within can be found in about 35 seconds of searching with Google. Topics discussed include basic firearm safety, shooting stances, a little about cleaning and maintenance of the firearm. It is geared so that someone who has never fired a gun before can take a 22 out to the range and at least put them on the paper. If you are looking for any detailed information about rifle marksmanship (like how to account for wind, bullet drop, etc.), don't spend your time or money on this. A decent book if you are looking for something basic, but don't expect too much.
