Product Description
This two-volume specimen of authentic Victorian erotica relates the story of Jack, a young gentleman who is jilted by his lover, Alice. In seeking retribution, he sets up a soundproof room replete with iron rings and rope pulleys. Here he introduces Alice and other victims to the joys of sexual and orgiastic splendor.

fun at first but goes too far January 11, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Based on descriptions, I rather thought this would be a fun romp -- something a bit more intense than a Harlequin romance -- and indeed it did begin that way: Jack has been spurned by the virginal Alice and so he plots a sexual revenge -- adapting a sound-proof room with many ropes and pulleys and bondage-friendly furniture. And of course, after an afternoon's tutelage, the lovely woman is so awed by Jack's prowess that she discovers her own sexuality and pleasure. Later she and Jack convert her maid because she has been impudent, and still later a young widow. Up to this point, even if not exactly how you would want young men to behave in the real world, the story is harmless enough and titillating. At this point, though, the story takes a decidedly disturbing turn. A matron and her daughter have been rude and boorish, and to punish them the quartet rape the pair repeatedly and force them to have sex with each other numerous times. They are not converted to the joys of the flesh, but only traumatized by it. While not as brutal as de Sade, neither is this just a fun roll in the hay either. I think this last adventure ruins it. In addition, the author seems not to have had any authentic sexual experience whatever -- does anybody really think that you can drive a woman to an insane frenzy with a *feather* for goodness sake? If you are looking for fun erotica, stop reading at page 199, or try something a bit less dark.
Deviant? Well, to some. May 7, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Considering the fact that I read this book for the first time when I was 11, I thought it was extremely wild. Reading it now though, I am able to look at it from a more mature and adult angle...and I still think it's wild! I am 20 now and A man with a maid is as much a delight to read now as it was then, and honestly some parts of this book still shock me despite the fact that I have read it countless times. Definately not for the closed-minded.
Not for the faint of heart January 8, 2001 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
While I agree with everyone, that the book was an fantastic display of eroticism, I feel the need to put a word of caution in as well. This is not a book for little school girls who like to giggle about kissing. This is a true look at what happens when you let a fascination with pleasure drive you too far.
A classic light bondage story... October 17, 2000 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
If you are like me and not really into S&M this book will tittilate that hidden part of your most secret thoughts. Jack and English 'gentleman' having been jilted by the young maid decides to take matgers into his own hands and builds his secret dungeon with all the ncessary furniture and soft straps to 'convince' Alice, and later with her help, a few other women in the community of their secret desires of the flesh .... The writing is yummie and highly erotic as the women that are captured in this room are all gentrly forced to face their own sexual desires and abandon themselves to this desire. Alas while they all scream and object they soon find that their bodies are telling them other things ... A MUST for your library ...
Man With A Maid Sizzles! September 28, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very absorbing tale. Characters were only partially developed, but this is understandable given the dominant sexual theme. Although rather lengthy, the novel is something you can't put down, and when it's over you want to read more!
