Book Description This cynical and immensely entertaining book describes the scanner world, the people in it, the equipment they use, and how they acquire and tune in to the "secret" frequencies.

Desperately needs an update April 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All technology and frequencies referenced are over 15 years old at this point. That's several lifetimes in scanning. For example, trunking and digital transmission are referred to as future technologies! Sadly, as a result, over half of the book is obsolete to the point of being useless.
In its day it was deep enough to keep your average hobbyist busy for several years. Were the author to update it this would be one of the best reference manuals around.
outdated November 16, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This book has a copyright date of 1995. Some of the information and laws have changed since this book has been written. The scanners that are on the market today did not exist 12 years ago, therefore most of the information on the scanner itself is hopelessly outdated. Other than radio theory which at times can be confusing, this book is a waste of time.
Gavssc August 23, 2007 Disappointed ! This was much to "deep" for a novice. Interesting "coffee table" book!
Scanners and Secret Frequencies December 30, 1999 15 out of 25 found this review helpful
Actually this is a good book. It gives frequencies in general not for individual states etc. But it is a well written and very informative book and we are glad I ordered it.
Great!!!!! April 17, 1999 38 out of 41 found this review helpful
Great scanner book. Covers every aspect of the scanning industry. A must for all scanners and scanner wannabe's. Has frequencies and police termonology to everything else. I recomend this book to anyone who owns a scanner. Greatest scanner book i have & i have all of them.
