Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The AR-15 is one of the most versatile guns ever invented, making it the ideal general-purpose rifle easily configured for home and community defense, disaster survival, small- and big-game hunting, varmint shooting, pest control and subsistence hunting. Its also a great gun for target shooting, competition and training, plinking and just plain fun. Its an easy gun to handle and shoot, perfect for less-experienced women and children, with advanced capabilities to satisfy the most expert rifleman. Unless you have a whole house full of guns, each designed specifically to fill one of the many specialized roles an AR-15 can cover on its own, you really cant get along without one.Best-selling author Bob Boatman briefly covers the background of the little black rifle that almost wasnt, then dives right into a detailed examination of the modular design and what you can do with it. If you have ever wondered if the AR-15 could possibly live up to its reputation, or if youre an AR-15 owner who wants to learn the best configuration for your gun, you owe it to yourself to read Living with the AR-15.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars A "could have been"   December 27, 2007

Indeed too much politics, way too much! And too little respect....
Concept of the book is ok, some articles quite readable. But most of them are just annoying because Boatman wants to convince the reader of his views on gun policy. Could be no problem, but not in the amount and style he does. This is a disguised political book, not a book on AR-15's. Info on guns is too general as well.
My first book by Boatman, but he's off my list now.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of money   November 17, 2007

I have no interest in the authors extremist nutbag political viewpoints. Waste of money if you are looking for AR-15 information.

3 out of 5 stars Decent entry though not his best   April 25, 2007

Boatman strikes again with a short entertaining read that is great in promise and shorter on delivery...and short in length.

I loyally buy every book he writes but this was a weak offering. My suggestion is that if you are going to put hard core political feelings in it that are fit for the hard core gun affecianado, dont write a book for people who barely know which end of the gun to hold. He needs to tone down the rhetoric or turn up the technical information. That being said I will continue to buy his books.

I would rank it up there with "Living with the 1911". "Living with Glocks" was better and "Living with the Big .50" was his best.
