Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
"Informative, well-written. It covers the subject of rod building in a concise manner. It should be in every rod builder's library."—Fly Fisherman

Dale P. Clemens's Advanced Custom Rod Building is the book that sent American fishermen back to their workshops. Clemens believes that, both practically and philosophically, a rod is an "extension of the angler's hand." Accordingly, Clemens explains the principles necessary for making custom tackle that is superior to anything off the rack, as well as exhaustive figures, illustrations, and tables for the experienced builder. The book contains invaluable advice on how to build rods of every kind, how to choose (and make) the best blanks, seats, handles, grips, and guides, and how to finish and seal rods to make them as handsome and durable as possible. Stunningly detailed and thorough, Advanced Custom Rod Building is a complete guide to building a fisherman's most essential tool. 168 b/w photos and illustrations, 29 color photos.

2 out of 5 stars Advanced Custom Rod Building by Skyhorse Publishing   October 20, 2008
First impressions:

I have a previous edition that I have misplaced, and purchased this one; however, I was not expecting the points enumerated below...

1) This edition does not have colour illustrations and pictures, unlike the earlier edition that I had.

2) The page/paper material is not that expected of hardcover editions; it is of paperback material.

5 out of 5 stars Rod builders bible   April 27, 2008
This is a very comprehensive book, the best I have found, and should be the rod builders bible. Written for the layman and also the experienced builder.

5 out of 5 stars Informative and helpful   April 25, 2008
I have bought a few books to get started in rod building and weaving and the books of Dale P Clemens by far are the best I have found! Very informative and easy to understand! They are packed full of useful information!
I would strongly recommend this book along with other by the same author!

5 out of 5 stars advanced custom rod building   April 2, 2008
This is the bible of custom rod building. I have read other books but none of them go into the depth of every aspect of rod building like Dale Clemens.

5 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever!   March 13, 2008
This is the bible of rod building. I was shocked to see a negative review. I have used this book often for many years, and I am purchasing a copy for my brother. The rod theory pages are brilliant.
