| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The Kindling of GreenFyr is the story of Owen McInish, an awkward fourteen-year-old bullied at school and friendless except for his pet cat, Piper. That is until a snow leopard is chased through the woods behind his house by three huge gray dogs with glowing green eyes. Owen saves the leopard from her pursuers, but the animal escapes him as well, only to return later. The cats behavior is peculiar, nothing like a wild animal, making Owen even more curious as to its origin. Eventually, the cat allows Owen to pet her. Owen finds himself experiencing friendships as he has never before. Adventures as he has never imagined. And political intrigue as two worlds, long separated, begin to collide.

Fantastic Read! November 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While YA Fantasy is not typically my genre of choice, I am very glad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone to read this book! I was captivated right from the start; Owen is a sympathetic and courageous character whom I came to care for greatly . The adventures he and his companions experience (and endure) throughout the novel are vividly detailed and nail-bitingly suspenseful. The more I read, the more difficult it became to put the book down! The story builds beautifully throughout the 552 pages, and has a very satisfying, if unexpected, conclusion. I'm already looking forward to Book Two!
Captivating, and I dont even read fantasy November 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must admit that I am not a huge fantasy reader, but this book captivated me from the start. I slid all of the other books aside to find out what happened with Owen. This book builds a fantastic group of characters which we cant wait to follow. Mark has created a real magic with this book that is going to make a wonderful series.
Favorite among library patrons October 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Kindling of Greenfyr has a little bit of everything a fantasy fiction lover could ever want. With the excitement and suspense beginning in the very first chapter, the adventures, the characters and the setting are all fully imagined by the author and described to the reader in vivid detail. I genuinely care for the characters and can't wait to find out what happens next. I am a librarian, and our copies of this title are always in circulation with incredibly positive feedback from readers from age 12-70. One young reader returned it asking for the next in the series. Every week when he visits the library he asks if I've found out when the sequel comes out... A great work of family fiction.
Great First Book October 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this book! The characters have a complexity that makes them very interesting. Even characters with minor roles have a real personality. The story grabs your interest very quickly and holds it throughout. I couldn't put it down after reaching the midpoint and was sorry to see the story conclude. I have recommended this book to teens and adults and several friends have gotten copies after skimming mine. Can't wait for the next installment.
The Kinndling og Greenfyr September 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The more I got in to the book, I did not want to put it down. It not only held your interest but got more exciting as the chapters flew by. I originally thought the book was too long but, after reading it I wish it was longer. The characters were all so likable. I only hope the author writes book two, I would stand in line to buy it.
