Product Description The sling may be an ancient weapon, but there are some powerful reasons for including it in any modern arsenal. It is silent and has multiple uses. It is powerful and has better range than a bow. It is accurate and easy to learn to use. It is easily improvised and highly portable. It can be readily concealed. Ammunition is available anywhere for free and it is inexpensive, and takes up little room. This is the complete manual on this little-known weapon. It tells how to make one, how to use one, and when and where to use one. Six different techniques are described and illustrated in detail. Also included is advice on how and where to practice, descriptions of ammunition, and practical applications. Highly recommended for all survivalists and weapons enthusiasts.

Nice basic book May 16, 2002 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The Sling begins with a bit of history followed by a discussion of the sling and its capabilities. A comparison with the bow follows in which the sling prevails. Next is a very good review of the techniques needed to use a sling including the three basic throws and three throws which combine the basic ones. Constructing the sling is discussed and then there is a bit about ammunition and applications.I have played with a sling off and on for about 40 years. Some of the material in the book was very interesting and some was simply hilarious. I appreciated the fact that safety was given several of the 62 pages. This is a good basic book on the subject, think Sling 101, giving enough knowledge to allow careful experimentation and enjoyment. Some of the materials suggested with which to make a sling would not stand up to my primary throw, and that throw is not silent as it involves a sonic boom, or crack, such as a whip makes. So, think about what you are doing, and possible consequences, while experimenting and before hitting yourself in the head as I have done. It DOES hurt. Comparison of the sling with the bow confused me as sling ammo is crushing similar to damage from a club. Bows fire a piercing projectile. To me it was an apples vs. oranges comparison. Bottom Line: The basics are covered with sufficient information to go further if you want to dedicate the time. A bibliography is also included for further research, a fact which I liked. For less than [money], not bad at all.

Fantastic! October 4, 1999 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a really cool book! I think it is more of a pamphlet though. I have already made twenty seven of these deadly weapons. They are so portable and easy to use. And the best part- you can find ammuntion almost anywhere.
A good start September 1, 1999 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is about the most readily available book on the sling as a weapon. Many of the reports on the slings ballistics are sensationalised in order to get people to buy the book and try the sling. Some back room JamesBondism as well. Still the cost isn't much and nothing better is easily available.
Excellent source of information for this versatile weapon. March 28, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are a weapons enthusiast like my self. Then I'm sure you will enjoy this book about an ancient and overlooked weapon. The illistrations are great and easy to understand. This book even shows you how to construct a sling from just about anything. Please buy this book.
