What every man should know August 13, 2008 I am a fan of Jeff Cooper and this does not disappoint. If you are a father or grandfather I urge you to get this book and read it. The title list the 3 things that every man should know, hence every boy should be taught. Excellent reading, well worth the time to read; if all our boys were taught these three things we'd have fewer problems in our country. I highly recommend it.
Not what it appears to be, but great! August 27, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jeff Cooper, those those that don't know, is widely considered one of the fathers of modern gun handgun tactics and safety. He was also a very upright and honorable individual by all accounts close to him. At first glance, this appears to be a how-to book on shooting and jeff's way of doing things. It is and it is not. This book won't teach you how to be a marksman, but it will enlighten you on some very key topics that everyone should be aware of. For the first time in about 15 years I found myself breaking out a highlighter to single out individual passages that really spoke to me. I have since referenced that book many times in conversations with friends and other shooting and self defense minded folks. Jeff really had a way of putting things in the correct perspective.
One of the best quotes I got out of his book, that gives away the whole flavor of the book is as follows,
"The police cannot protect you in your home. If goblins break in upon you the police should be called - as soon as you get around to it - in order to write out reports and clean up the mess. But the goblins are your problem. Bear that always in mind. - Jeff Cooper"
