Product Description The different types and styles of bullets available to the rifle hunter are staggering. Through their world-wide hunting experiences and exposures to a myriad of bullet testing investigarions, the authors have broken down terminal bullet performance to the nuts and bolts. You will find a detailed analysis of rifle bullets used for varmints, deer, big game, muzzleloaders and dangerous game--as well as information on cast bullets. Combined with comprehensive instructions on testing rifle bullets and how to interpret the results, this book is the most complete study of rifle bullets for the hunter ever published.

Good Discussion of Bullet Science for the Layman January 5, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This highly informative study is comprised of a number of chapters written by different authors. Some chapters are better than others, but on the whole this is worthwhile if you are a serious hunter who handloads. Non-handloaders will find useful information here as well, but the book's true value is for the dedicated hunter who is looking for the maximum performance in a bullet and is willing to put in the time necessary to develop and test varying loads for a particular species. Personally I think the variables involved in the performance of a bullet under any particular circumstances are so myriad that trying to come up with the "perfect" bullet and "perfect" load for a given species is folly. The best we can do, in my view, is use a well constructed bullet that is designed for the species and circumstances in which we intend to use it. From there, it's up to us to deliver it properly and it will either do the job or not. However, we need to make intelligent choices about the bullets we use, and this book certainly presents an advanced course in making, selecting, testing and using hunting bullets.
