Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
A brilliant parody of the children's classic Goodnight Moon, built around the coming end of the worst presidency ever.

Goodnight Bush: An Unauthorized Parody is a hilarious and poignant visual requiem for the Bush administration. In it we see a childlike George W. Bush tucked safely away in the confines of his own room with all of the toys he's willfully destroyed, abused, or defaced. Complete with a quiet Dick Cheney whispering "hush," this bedtime story lets us finally say goodnight to the disaster that was the last eight years.

1 out of 5 stars Not for the Intelligent   August 30, 2008
If you are a thinking person this book is not for you. Putting it bluntly t is a repeat of what the presss has been hyping since President Bush took office. What a meanspirited ripoff. But if you are one of the sheep go ahead and waste your money.

1 out of 5 stars Parody?   August 29, 2008
This book clearly appears to be a copyright violation and there is some chance amazon could be contributorily liable. For a book to be a parody and a fair use under the Copyright Act the "work" must be a parody of the underlying work. A book making fun of Goodnight Moon would fit this description.A book using elements so Goodnight Moon but making fun of something else entirely is not a parody. No amount of claiming it is a parody makes it one and no amount if saying it is unrelated to the original will excuse the infringement if one exists.

5 out of 5 stars Amazingly Well Done   August 27, 2008
Okay, so your politics probably need to lean in this direction for you to be able to appreciate this one. Having said that, this book is a very clever poignant critique of the last seven years. What really impressed me is how well done it was. I actually purchased the original Goodnight Moon as well and read (looked at) them side by side. Much like Goodnight Moon, the subtle embedding of images within images is impressive. It's one where you keep finding new things the longer you look at each panel. That's pretty much where the similarity with the original ends though.

I will mention, as the authors and most of the other reviewers have, that unlike Goodnight Moon, this is not a children's book. It is a harsh political criticism, complete with the WTC, hurricane Katrine, torture and a lawyer hunting vice president.

I guess my take home message is that if you are not viscerally disgusted with the last seven years, you probably don't need or want to read this one. But if you are, this is clever and well done--if disturbing.

5 out of 5 stars Great satire!   August 22, 2008
Really enjoyed this sharp and accurate portrayal of the legacy of the Bush years. If you or your kids loved the original, you'll be able to appreciate the details here. Makes a sad and tragic statement while remaining very faithful to the original book. I bought a copy for all my family members!

5 out of 5 stars American classic   August 22, 2008
I adore the little children's book Goodnight Moon, 60th Anniversary Edition, read it every night aloud to my daughter, and now I am an equally big fan of this one. My friend called me over to read it in the bookstore and we were guffawing so loudly we caused a disturbance. The clerks didn't mind though; they were used to it.
Warning, parents, don't let your innocent little ones accidentally get a crack at it, at least not the graphic page for prison abuses. I should think it is appropriate for teens, however, who will get the morbid, mordant humor as the spoonful of sugar for the world into which they must come of age. The illustration for "good night Cheney, whispering hush" is LOL. Let us all pray that is a farewell to an era.
