Product Description Architecture is the art form that most impacts our lives. In 1979, the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize was established to formally recognize the talented architects who enrich our world through their artistry and innovation. Each year since, a living architect whose vision and commitment has produced "significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture" has been honored. A generation of the most outstanding international architects has now received the coveted award. This volume showcases - and celebrates - these inspiring individuals who continue to shape our world through the art of architecture.
"The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of your own, we have no soul of our own civilization." - Frank Lloyd Wright

MISleading and UNtruthful Book Title !August 30, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If I were an attorney I would seriously consider some legal action against the authors of this book: Jaye Abbate and Michael C. Thomsett and the publisher Marketplace Books due to the totaly misleading and untruthful book title. This 128 page book published in 2004 at US$19.95 only has ten individual chapters for TEN well known Pritzker award winning architects and not 25 !! (Five other winners are given a paragraph or so in a sidebar within the other 10 chapters.) Another serious negative of this book is that ALL of the photographs are in black and white with hard to read very tiny font sized captions and believe it or not two of the famous architects: Alvaro Siza and Zaha Hadid have only ONE photograph each in their respective chapters! The so called 'Recommended Reading' list at the back has nothing to do with the award winning architects but rather is a several page advertisement for an on-line book company that sells architecture books! No wonder some copies of this fairly recent book are now less than $1 + shipping. Stay away from this book! Boris Bear Donescu in Denver, Colorado
