Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This mini-"Glock-smithing" course by Glock enthusiasts Robert and Morgan Boatman first explains why you would make a specific modification and what you gain in terms of improved performance. It then presents step-by-step procedures for altering triggers, extending magazines and slide releases, adding new sights and incorporating other alterations for practical carry and use, as well as providing detailed instructions for basic disassembly and assembly, cleaning and routine maintenance. The workbook format makes the manual simple to follow as you work on your Glock, and high-resolution photos illustrate each part and step precisely.

1 out of 5 stars Misleading Title - Factual Errors!   March 29, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I was very disappointed, this book has nothing to do with customizing your Glock. It does do a pretty good job of explaining disassembly and routine maintenance, however, THAT'S NOT WHY I BOUGHT THE BOOK. I bought it beacause it was titled: "How to customize your Glock".

I attended the Glock factory armorer's course last year and have copies of the armorer's manual so this book, for me, was a waste of $20. I also think it's interesting that one of the "co-authors" wrote the first Amazon review of it (5 stars?!).

Worst of all - in the reassembly section of "DETAIL-STRIP YOUR FRAME" (pages 55-56) the book instructs you to install the slide stop lever and trigger pin before installing the locking block pin. According to the Glock Armorer's Manual the locking block pin "MUST BE THE FIRST PIN PUT IN OVER TRIGGER DURING REASSEMBLY". This is because the spring on the slide stop lever rests against the bottom of the locking block pin. If you try to put the locking block pin in after the slide stop is installed you'll either bend the spring or it'll wind up above the locking block pin (instead of tensioned against the bottom of it), this will reduce or eliminate the tension on the slide stop and will frequently cause the slide to lock back when the pistol is fired, whether or not there are additional rounds in the magazine. Once the spring is bent the whole slide stop has to be replaced.

Save your money. Buy Glock Pistols Disassembly & Reassembly Gun-guide (Disassembly & Reassembly Guide) or The Gun Digest Book of the Glock: A Comprehensive Review : Design, History, Use (Gun Digest Book of the Glock) instead.

3 out of 5 stars DVD vs. Book   March 11, 2008

This is actually a very good book if you are looking for complete instructions on how to disassemble/reassemble the Glock but since this book has nothing to do with Customizing Glocks (misleading title),I will recommend "The Complete GLOCK Disassembly/Reassembly" DVD by Lenny Magill, it shows step-by-step instructions on how to do it with easy to follow information and how the parts function. This DVD applies to all Glock Models and you can find it for about the same price.

3 out of 5 stars HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR GLOCK   February 10, 2008

Book is clear and simple for a new gun owner, not so much for "customizing" but actually for learning how to take it apart and clean and do simple repairs.

3 out of 5 stars Good book, misleading title.   December 30, 2007

This is actually a very good book on complete assembly/disassembly of your Glock pistol, with great pictures and step by step instructions. The problem is of course the book was titled "How to Customize your Glock:..." This made me (and apparently others) think the book would be address topics such; trigger jobs, frame modifications, fitting custom barrels etc... their is none of that here, only how to taker you pistol apart and put it back together. This left me dissapointed with my purchase.

In the authors defense a lot of Glock "Customizing" IS simply changing items such as connectors and springs, which this book would of course help you accomplish if you have never had yours apart before. Some time spent by authors talking about the various aftermarket parts you could replace, and the effect they would have, would have made the title a bit more appropriate.

4 out of 5 stars Good for those new to Glocks   December 29, 2007
The book is well written and has good photography. It wasn't much help to me as I've been tinkering with Glocks for a while. If you are new to Glocks then this book will help you a lot.
