 Great holster; just needs a little wax October 14, 2008
I purchased this Fobus holster for my Walther p22 about two years ago. I was impressed with the overall quality and I was frustrated by how tight it fit the holster. In the great tradition of thinking `there must be a better way,' I waxed the holster's interior with canuba wax. I then cleaned the P22's trigger guard area and wiped it with a lightly oiled cloth. Holster works great; holds firm but does not require vise grips to get the pistol out and all materials still look good.
This is a great holster for a great little pistol...

I purchased this Fobus holster for my Walther p22 about two years ago. Like others, I am impressed with the overall quality and like others, I was frustrated by how tight it fit the holster. In the great tradition of thinking `there must be a better way,' I waxed the holster's interior with a silicone-based polish (i.e., Galco Draw-EZ Holster Treatment or its equivalent from any hardware store). I then cleaned the P22's trigger guard area and wiped it with a lightly oiled cloth. That was six months ago. Holster works great; holds firm but does not require vise grips to get the pistol out and all materials still look good.
I had trouble with the front-site on the P22 before I had the holster, so I glued it in place with a dab of Gorilla glue (a quick search of the net will reveal this is a common problem with the P22, that front site gets bumped and it's gone). I've never had any problems with the holster de-siting the "glued" pistol.

First off i like that this holster was available for the P22. without going custom i was unable to find another holster, other than generic sized holsters.
upon opening the product i was reasured by a lifetime warranty.. always good to see. but upon closer inspection i saw no adjustments for the active retention...always bad; however with high hopes i slid my P22 into the holster and there was a reasuring lock. this was very pleasing to me untill i tried to pull out the weapon...I swear, unless this holster is on your hip it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to remove the gun. trust me, it was stuck. so i shrugged and slid the paddle into my jeans (with a web belt) and tugged... OUCH not only did the weapon NOT draw...but there are sharp metal edges that dug into my hipbone on the misdraw... please keep in mind i am an avid shooter and i know how to propperly draw my weapon.
after several other tugs i got the weapon to draw... at this point i hated the holster. the reason i give it a 3/5 (good) rating is because
pros
1. you wont worry about loosing your sidearm unknowingly...ever
2. with a heave belt tightly fastened, an undershirt to protect from the metal edges, and some practice... the draw does get easier
3. it is the only pre-made holster specific to the P22 that i could find
4. lifetime warranty
5. decent holster for target shooting or plinking
cons
1. retention too tight. there is a fine line between "too secure", and "too loose", this holster does a poor job in balancing the two in my opinion. I would never use this to carry concealed or on duty. too unreliable.
2. Sharp edges. on a good draw with an undershirt you will hardly notice them if at all, but if you misdraw, or if you are working on muscle memory and drawing 100+ draws a night... you are going to be sore in the morning.
3. i cant count on my pistol coming out when i want/need it too. luckilly this is a plinking pistol and for my use it will be a "want" and not a "need"
summary
all in all... it does its job, keeps your gun on your hip. but dont put your life on it. do not use if you plan on conceal carry. i cant speak for larger caliber fobus holsters, but would imagine that they are about the same... so dont carry a duty weapon in a fobus such as this.

This holster is fantastic. You do not have to wear a belt to wear the holster. The holster can easily be taken off and put on in seconds. The holster design requires no strap across the pistol just pull up with a quick jerk and the pistol comes free. I was hesitant to wear such a holster since I feared the gun might come out but it stays snug in the holster even while running or hanging upside down. I find it also rides high on the waist and close to the body making it easy to conceal by leaving your shirt untucked. It is my favorite holster. And a P22 is a great little gun.

I purchased this holster and have owned it for several months now. I had purchased an Uncle Mike's for the same pistol earlier and just do not like it. I started checking out other products by Fobus and Uncle Mike's and found price to be about the same but Fobus a much better quality product. I have since purchase a Fobus magazine holder and found the quaility to be very good.
