Great coffee table book February 9, 2008 This book is amazing. Its pictures are beautiful and explanations clear. I leave it on my coffee table as the pictures are so beautiful and on every page. I would suggest this book for especially persons that have not had previous knowledge of the universe as this explains it all in understandable detail. Good for all ages except the very young.
Cosmology at its best January 7, 2008 Exceeded all my expectations. This book draws on the latest photos from the far reaches of our universe. The best possible pictures of the most distant corners of the Universe. The discussion which accompanies each page is science worthy yet not "over the head" of the non scientist. Great to give the adolescent child or grandchild who doesn't yet know if they are interested in science. There's so much material in this one book, it will take you a light year to finish it!
GOOD RECOURSE December 17, 2007 this book is one of the best astronamy books I ever purchased. its full of pictures and up to date discoveries. I recomend this book to anyone interested in astronamy.
fine work from a fine publisher October 22, 2007 i own several fine works from this publisher of beautifully illustrated overviews; this may be my tiptop favorite.
Glorious September 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I could retire just to keep rereading this book and stargazing and following the many enticing breadcrumbs of information scattered around the lovely images. The only possible improvement would be a "hyperlinked" version: For me, someone operating rather far from the natural sciences, some of the paragraphs were a great review, but others opened up more questions than answers. But what glorious questions they are, and how spiritual an experience it has been to journey among atoms and galaxies and across time. Thank you for bringing back the awe that I had forgotten to feel for the last few years!
