I loved this book May 28, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book was good because there are seven girls who share a special quality with Disney princesses. They get to go to the Disneny Institue to take classes and the classes get all mixed up. They thought they would hate the classes, but in the end they liked them.
Another Thinly Disguised Advertisment for Disney May 6, 2000 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Don't get me wrong, I love everything Disney. With this book Disney has taken another opportunity to show kids what visiting the park could be like. It's Isabelle's birthday, and her father has given her six week-long passes to the Disney Institute, including the use of a Grand Vista home at the Institute. Isabelle invites her five best friends, all members of the Disney Girls. Each girl strongly identifies with one of the six Disney princesses, to the point that she believes she is that princess. Each of the girls chooses which Institute class she wants to take and fills out the class name in the pre-registration card. Ariel is given all the cards to mail that day. At the very last minute Ariel realizes none of the girls have filled out their names or addresses. Quickly, she fills out her friends names and addresses in time for the mail carrier to pick them up. When the Disney Girls arrive at the welcome center to confirm their class registration, they realize that Ariel filled out the wrong names on each card. All six girls believe that magic brought them together as friends. The events in their lives are not chance or mistakes, but a direct result of the power of magic. The girls all decide to take the class she has been assigned and view it as a growth experience. The book alternates between present tense and daily journal entries each girl makes in a communal vacation journal. The book explains in detail what it's like to attend a Disney Institute class, and casually mentions a couple of other other rides elsewhere in WDW. The book is a beginning chapter book geared for ages 8-12. (the Disney Girls are ages 8 and 9.) It is an upbeat book emphasizing friendship and growth experiences. I would recommend it to anyone.
