Fishing basics September 19, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a good book. It really identifies the best places in a given area to fish. Some of the illustrations can be a little hard to understand due to it being in black and white. The fish identification guide is great, to bad there isnt any writing on actually cooking the fish, this would really round it out. This book would make a great addition to others you may have.
Best fishing book I own December 18, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
When it comes to fising, anglers typically want to get the information they need quickly -- knot tying or the common rig for bottom fishing bluegill. This book does provides the information you need quickly without the filler found in many other books of its kind. For this reason I give it a full five stars. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a section in chapter 5 on Catfish (e.g. live bait flathead rigs).
A Little Gem December 11, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is really a little gem. Frankly, the hand-drawn illustrations are part of its charm. In addition to being charming, it is very informative and easy to read. It gives information on a variety of techniques and species. I will probably read it again some time soon.
Okay, not great October 23, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Definitely not for saltwater fishermen. Figures are somewhat helpful but rather amateurish. Okay but not impressive. Not really worth the expense.
fishing basics is a great book December 10, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
fishing basics is one of those books that every fisherman/women should have. although the book covers the basics, it is well thought out and the illistrations are awesome. it covers every type of fishing. from boat to ice fishing. it also has great sugestions for fishing for any fish. even if you are a fishing export (which i'm not by any means) it's good to have a book on the basics. i highly recomend it.
