5 out of 5 stars Another Can't-Put-Down Read!   July 22, 2008
0 out of 1 found this review helpful

It takes a lot of courage to set aside well-loved characters and a writing style that launched you onto the Bestseller lists but Nina Bangs has done just that- with amazing success!

Eternal Pleasure is the first of eleven `Gods of the Night' series. Delving into the dark and serious side of paranormal, Nina has created an incredible new world full of original plot points and surprising twists-so much so, I am unable to summarize without ruining the story for you. Hint: She pairs a predator alpha-male with a perfectly normal human female, throws them in life-endangering situations with breathtaking frequency and- uh yeah- it's Nina; LOTS of sexual tension! Will they save humanity in time? I'm not telling, buy the book.

Suffice it to say this is a can't-put-down page turner (warning: if you're reading it pool-side, be prepared for a second-degree sunburn!) Congratulations Nina!

4 out of 5 stars I love Nina Bangs!   July 21, 2008

I'm so glad that Nina Bangs is writing a new series. I can't wait for the next installment.

3 out of 5 stars The best she's ever written   July 20, 2008

I'm not a fan of Nina Bangs - yet I keep buying her books hoping this time she'll get it right. Finally, this is the best she's ever written. The alpha male is very alpha and Kelly is also exciting. I skim read the last couple of chapters (well really skipped to the end). I'm not ready for another series (11 heros - o come on there were only 4 Beatles, 5 Jackson brothers, and 4 Tops.) Not a bad book if you need your paranoramal fix, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. Also - the Fin character was too omnipresent and too much like the Acheron character in Keynons books. I would like to read a good stand alone paranormal romance without teasers of future villians or supergods who solve all of the promises at the last minute. Oh well one can hope.

4 out of 5 stars Take a walk on the Dark side with the dangerous predatory Gods of the Night   July 18, 2008

Nina Bangs has gone over to the dark side. Leaving her normal humor behind, the world of the God's of the Night is chockfull of dark, dangerous predatory males. In addition to her eleven `gods' and their even more mysterious powerful leader -- think a cold emotionless Ash (Dark-hunters) - and add several more side characters who are also - you guessed it - dark dangerous and predatory and you'll be amazed that the heroine who is a mere mortal can hold her own against these guys, but she does.

The intro to the lead Ty is quite something, Bangs truly gives us a male that is so predatory that he almost scares the heroine off. Mix in with the terror vibes, the lust and sensuality that he also emits and the heroine Kelley doesn't know whether to flee or just offer her self up as a sensual feast. Ty is so `other' -- and we don't find out what that is for a fair amount in the book - that he is not easy to `connect' with as a reader. And though Bangs does have him transition to become more human to the point where he wants the forever kind of love with Kelley, I couldn't see what really motivated him to change, so this felt a bit superficial to me.

This may make it sound like I didn't like the book but actually I really did, mostly because of Kelley. She is so normal that it is easy to relate to her as an ordinary person who ends up in an extraordinary situation and finds out what she's really made of. She is someone who deals with her fears head-on, but brings along enough intelligence to avoid being too stupid to live when she heads into danger. Kelley was the perfect first-book-of-the-series heroine because not only was she incredibly inquisitive but she was also perceptive enough to ask the right questions, so she made the exposition/world-building that often bogs down a first book flow naturally.

Even though I didn't particularly like the `hook' for the `Gods" - their secret soul incarnations are not something that I find particularly sexy or attractive, and I would have preferred something less original like dragons -- the series holds promise. The other leads-to-be -- Q, Lio and Al -- are interesting and they are only a fraction of the group that we have yet to meet, so we'll see where Bangs takes it from here as the Gods of the Night fight to save the world from forces working toward the Mayan predicted 2012 amaggedon. Eternal Promise (no link yet)is up next.

5 out of 5 stars OMG !! This Book ROCKS !!!   July 14, 2008

In the start to what promises to be an excellent series, Eternal Pleasure introduces 'The Eleven'. Drop dead gorgeous hunks possessed with a healthy dose of attitude, and off the charts smoldering sensuality. These 'otherkin' harbor the souls of immortals been brought back to prevent the foretold destruction of the world as 'humans' know it on 12/21/2012.

And, wait until you see what kind of 'souls' these testosterone-laden warriors hold within them. No, so not going to give it away; but, the author has come up with a very original idea that pulls you in and doesn't disappoint.

This world is full of vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, demons; the list goes on. But, this is also Ty's story and yes, a love story to boot. The progression of his and Kelly's romance is riveting, downright scary and yes, humorous at times.

This book grabbed hold of me from the first chapter and had me breathlessly turning the pages until the satisfying end.

Hopefully the intensity will be retained through the upcoming books in the series.

So, definitely, run out and buy this book, grab a seat, and enjoy a marvelous roller coaster ride of horror, romance, and yes, laughter.
