This book by Master Hei Long was very informative. It is easy to understand and follow (most of the time) and has many many pictures and writing guiding you through each step. I am 13 years of age and gained a lot of knowledge from this book. I encourage you to not only read this book but study it for best resutls. i recomend this book to people of all ages.

4 out of 5 stars Great book but one book won't make you a ninja.   June 15, 1999

A good book to own if you want to brush up on your self-defense skills. Very well-organized and thought out. But as with all martial arts books, DO NOT ASSUME YOU ARE A MARTIAL ARTS EXPERT JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE READ THIS BOOK. It covers a good range of techniques but anyone who says that this book alone helped them win a fight is either lying or very lucky. The techniques the book shows are solid techniques but unless you have taken some martial art in the past or are currently taking one now use this book for reference or information only. It always helps to have a live person to ask and help you improve your technique.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Work from and Excellent Martial Artist   March 23, 1999

Master Hei Long is the kind of person you have got to respect, because he tells you how to defend yourself in a day and age when knocking someone down won't stop him. I am a teenageer and I live in a town where a lot of people want to take you out if you mess with them. Well after reading this book I knocked out a tough guy wanna be with one punch and I knew it would happen ( I mean I knew he would be knocked out)
