5 out of 5 stars Buyer, be aware   June 1, 1998
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

Principles of Personal Defense is a worthwhile read...that is, all 20 minutes you spend reading it. You should be aware that this is a 40-something page "booklet". That's the term the Colonel himself uses to describe it. Despite its brevity, still highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Good "mindset" primer   April 17, 1998
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

This is _not_ a specific guide to the use of weapons in personal defense, as one would expect from the Colonel. Rather, it's a primer on the "mindset" aspects of engaging an adversary. In this respect, it suffices in its coverage of the attitudes necessary to prevail in a fight and _win_.

Defensive pistolcraft is a practical martial art, and Colonel Cooper is, without doubt, the father of the art in its modern form. This little red book is given out at his General Pistol courses; I have one myself. Buy several and give them to the people whose lives you cherish.

Then, take them to a pistol range and teach them to shoot.
