| Customer Reviews:
Truly Inspirational October 16, 2008 This is a great little book with tremendous power to inspire. Randy Pauch knew what was valuable in his life. He convinces his readers to do some introspection before it is too late.
Great Lessons To Live by October 16, 2008 Most of what you'll read in this book is information that you may have heard before. The lessons that Randy communicates aren't new, and that's okay - after all, repetition is the mother of retention... The bottom line is that most of us can use the refresher.
The fact that this advice is coming from someone who knows that this will be his final parting wisdom, his Last Lecture, makes it all the more meaningful. (Have you asked yourself what advice you would give if you had the opportunity?)
A good portion of the book chronicles the many goals that Randy achieved during the course of his life. Some may consider these personal stories to be a little self-indulgent, but who cares?! Randy accomplished a lot and he should celebrate those wins. Besides, there are valuable lessons contained in each story.
Not many people can say that they were able to realize even one of their childhood dreams. Randy has a few of those under his belt and should be applauded for that. This book is a personal look inside the life of a dying man and the lessons that enabled him to live a great life.
I think Randy wanted to share with the world (or more specifically, his children) the lessons that he lived by, the lessons that enabled him to live a great life. I don't necessarily think that Randy had intended to write a personal development book, but that is exactly what this is. Reading this book should empower you to live a better life.
As a note, although this book will serve you well just by reading it- to really appreciate the content, you should invest the time to watch Randy's "Last Lecture" (the complete lecture).
A Must Read October 14, 2008 I am 62 years old and it has been quite a while since I have read a book that made me laugh out loud on one page and openly shed tears on the next. I have shared the book with my daughters and friends. There is much to be learned here. I intend to read it again--this time with a highlighter.
outstanding October 14, 2008 If you haven't read this book by now, you need to. The most enjoyable, heart wrenching book I have read in a long long time. I laughed with him, cried for them and pray for his family's loss and his peace.
Touching, educational, inspiring October 13, 2008 Inspiring, educational in that it has great life lessons. A fast, easy and wonderful read.
