Great Read December 3, 2008 I really enjoyed this book, and the writing style of the author. I didn't think I would be interested in a vampire love story that included a high school student, but needless to say I couldn't put the book down.

best book i have read in all my life.reading num. 2 and im hooked ... PEACE
absolutely amazing!! December 3, 2008 This is a book you will not be able to put down. When you finish reading, it will leave you thinking about nothing else. I am not a teenager and I am not a vampire book lover, but this swept me off of my feet. You will not be disappointed.
Absolutely Addictive December 3, 2008 I am in my 30s, so when my teenage cousins prattled on and on and on about the Twilight books, I paid little attention. Well, after hearing from ten other people in their 30s that I must read Meyer's books, I caved. And I'm glad I did. The books in the Twilight Saga are some of the most addictive books I've ever read.
Twilight is a very endearing novel. It is definitely geared towards teen girls. The writing is relatively simplistic, which is to be expected for a book like this - especially one narrated by a 17 year old. It tells a touching story, and Meyer puts some unique, innovative twists on a genre that many might say is overdone.
Meyer's greatest talent is her ability to keep the reader riveted, wanting to read on and on. Like the Harry Potter books, it doesn't matter that the prose isn't perfect - it's just a compelling story that has a momentum that just keeps chugging on, so it's hard to find a place you feel comfortable stopping. If you're anything like I was when reading these books, you'll want to clear your schedule for a few days. My house got very messy and there was no food in the fridge, but I couldn't put these books down long enough to rectify either of those situations. Definitely give these books a chance.
Very addicting story December 2, 2008 Before I say anything further, I must say that I am truly a fan of this series. These books were recommended to me by a friend who thought I might like them. I did. I felt a little embarrassed to be "not a teen" buying these books, but hey, I am up for a love story anytime.
I loved the tender, sweet, and confusing feelings described in finding your first love. Stephenie Meyer did an excellent job emulating those feelings. I was able to feel it right along with the characters, which does not often happen. She did a wonderful job in introducing Edward as very mysterious but appealing.....like you just HAD to know more right along with Bella.
I did, however, not care a ton for the character of Bella. Of course, maybe that is because I am older than 17, haha. Who knows. But my feelings were that, what she felt for Edward was, infatuation, not love (at least in the first novel). All she could talk about was his beauty, and the draw it was for her. It all seemed so superficial, whereas HIS feelings toward her grew into love. Yes, at first all he wanted was to kill her....that was his instinct. He fought so hard against those instincts, but was drawn to her by this curiosity of why all the other males in her vicinity thought she was so wonderful. And, as he got to know her, it turned to love. I think my review is a little tainted because I did read what Stephenie Meyer released of Midnight Sun (Twilight through Edwards eyes), so I do have more of an understanding of what Edward was thinking that is not described in Twilight. I can't put my finger on why exactly I didn't care for Bella's character...I guess she just seemed so....fickle? Maybe? But, I can admit that I remember how it felt to be 17 and so passionate about someone else. It is like the world moves just for them. Ah, to be young again. ;)
I did give the book 4 stars because I really did enjoy the story, but mostly because the character of Edward just fascinates me, and yeah, I am all for some sappy romance. :)
