5 out of 5 stars Coben at his best   November 9, 2008
As far as thrillers go this was very good. The characters were deep and enthralling, keeping your interest all the way through. There was enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, and plenty of action. If you enjoy Lee Child`s Jack Reacher books then this will please you. I`m a series fan and enjoy Child and Michael Connelly books immensely, if you like that kind of thriller read the `Soft Target` books by Conrad Jones. They are unputdownable!! Back to the review, ten out of ten.

5 out of 5 stars Harlan Coben Never Disappoints   November 8, 2008
There are many reviews detailing the major premise of this novel so I won't attempt another. I'll simply say that with this novel, Harlan Coben continues to weave multiple sub-plots into a great story. I've never been disappointed with any of Coben's novels and would recommend all of them to anyone looking for a great story.

3 out of 5 stars Not his best work   November 8, 2008
I just finished Hold Tight and have to say it took me about 2 weeks to get through it. It started out so slow and the characters seemed to be going nowhere. Any other book I would have given up on by this time, but I know this author is fantastic! Finally, about half way through it picked up and actually was pretty good. I have read many of Coben's books and have become a fan, but not so much of this one. My favorite of his is Tell No One. Also really enjoyed The Woods and Gone for Good.

5 out of 5 stars Intense Thriller and Keeps you on the Edge   October 22, 2008
Coben entitled this appropriately, because it really does make you hold on tight. It has a whole range of characters and fits them in nicely. He provides just enough background on the characters to make their actions believable. There are several sub-plots that occur and contribute to a steady intensity. The main plot twists and turns and does not reveal the climax until the end. This is a dramatic book that will keep readers' attention.

4 out of 5 stars Terror of parenting today   October 10, 2008
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

Prominent surgeon Mike Baye and his wife Tia are in mental torment about their son, sixteen year old Adam who has undergone a complete change of character in the last six months. Adam's best friend committed suicide for no apparent reason and Adam has turned into a sullen, unresponsive boy who refuses to talk to his parents or obey any house rules. Mike and Tia are at their wit's end, trying to be understanding parents and hoping that this is just a passing phase. While uncertain as to whether or not to invade his privacy and show a lack of trust by installing a spy system, they decide that they've been forced into this situation and are willing to do anything to protect Adam from himself and anything crooked. It's a gripping book which will resonate with many parents of teenagers today.
