Greatly Dissappointed February 28, 2008 Hello Everyone
I've just finished reading DC Vs Marvel I and I have to be honest, It totally sucked and made zero sense. The entire story was idiotic and boring to the tee. I mean the fights between the two different superhero factions were boring especially Wonder Women Vs Storm. I have already forgotten if Thor fought anyone in this issue. When I was a kid certain comics were so great that I must have spent countless of hours re-reading each issue, this comic I already tossed it in the closet. What were they thinking? Even the Characters looked different, Batman and Captain America looked off... What a shame, I hope they pay closer attention if they ever decide to make a Superhero movie involving both comics.
DC Vs Marvel Delivers the Goods! September 10, 2007 I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Seeing both Marvel and DC's greatest heroes not only on the same page, but battling it out with the fate of their universes on the line was nothing less than spectacular. Only in my wildest dreams could I have imagined Superman fighting The Hulk, Batman duking it out with Captain America, and Thor taking on Captain Marvel. The indiviual fights may have been a little short, but I felt it was necessary to keep the story moving. The quality of the book is great and I definitely recommend this crossover to any "true beliver" out there.
From a guy who doesn't buy comic books anymore August 17, 2007 This collection I read already when I was a kid. Before I bought it I hadn't read a comic book in years. But, remembering all the fond memories I had sitting outside of a book store waiting for it to open so I could buy the next issue way way back when made me decide to purchase this collection and I certainly enjoyed it. The story itself is somewhat top notch as far as comics go, adding in tons of action but with an over-all story arc that only a more mature me could enjoy. The character of Access and his predecessor are surprisingly well developed for a gimicky tie-in element designed to make sense of this whole thing. The artwork is surprisingly Marvel-esque too for a collection with DC first in the title, which is a good point for both old and new fans of that style and a downer for anyone more into the DC form. Plus, Batman takes on Captain America and Superboy fights Spiderman, and who can argue with the entertainment value in that? The only complaint I have is that, after reading this, I want to buy the other Amalgam books so I can see fully what would happen if Marvel and DC decided to merge into one company and create new comics based on both sides of the super hero spectrum. While buying the DC side of it is easy enough, especially on this website where I purchased both for around 20 bucks, including shipping, buying the Marvel side is an absolute pain in the arse, with experience going through e-bay, amazon, borders, Barnes and Noble, and a couple of comic shops around town. I don't remember which store but the only thing I could find so far, The Return to the Amalgam Age of Comics: The Marvel Collection, went for nearly 60 dollars just to give you an idea of the head-ache you may find yourself in if you're curious to see what this universe was like at the time. It makes me wish I could submit my e-mail for those who could give me a tip for how to buy these comics, the storyline is just that good. Thankyou for reading.
Very Entertaining!! April 16, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As a lifelong comic book fan, I was very excited to see the universes of Marvel and DC collide. The story itself although isn't very deep, it was very entertaining and I felt as though a childhood dream had come true. The idea of pitting various heroes against each other was quite intriguing, the Superman/Hulk contest was good and expected, however I would have liked to see Superman hurl the Hulk into earth orbit. As a HUGE Batman fan, I expected more from the contest between him and Captain America. My big questions were where was Iron Man??? Storm beating Wonder Woman?? Come on. Besides those little concerns, I found this a nice collection a nice change and an interesting take and I hope to see this more often.
Awesome, Awesome.......and AWESOME! February 23, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is it! The one that was spawned by countless grade school arguments that raged during recesses across the country. Superman vs. Hulk, Batman vs. Captain America and many other super brawls are finally presented in a great action-packed collection. Want deep meaningful characterization? Keep moving. This is non-stop superhero on superhero action at it's best!
