Great Buy July 14, 2002 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is by far the most extensive and in depth coverage of pressure points as they apply to the martial arts and healing. It is the only book that I have found in 11 years of study, that gives both the combat uses and the healing uses to EACH AND EVERY point. Not to mention methods of countering the affects of a pressure point that has been used in combat. It gives all the needed information including: location, direction of strike, antidote, damage, healing, and set up point. All of this is combined together with clear and understandable diagrams and pictures. Just one piece of advice if you get this book. Most of the information is written in fairly technical terms as far as the anatomy is concerned. You might want to have a dictionary present to help understand some of the information. But, for the truly dedicated martial artist, this is a must have for every library.
AMAZING ! ! ! ! ! June 27, 2002 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book is by far the most imformative book on dim-mak that i have ever read. It should be required reading for anyone wanting to improve there current style. If you are at all interested in either dim-mak or vital points on the human anatomy, then this is the book that you've been waiting for!It covers not only where every point is located, but also what happens when you strike it in diff. angles as well as light to heavy blows. also another plus to this book is that it also covers the healing side of this most deadly art. A must read for any serious martial artist, or anybody wanting to just learn some invaluble information. A MUST READ !! kudos to erle montaigue, and wally simpson for going above and beyond for this book!!

I have a healthy respect for all martial artists and believe that we should share our knowledge and wisdom to perfect our art. It is good to see that many of the old safeguards are still being used by the older Masters. Many of which would not teach an individual any techniques of quality if the student was a well "Erie Montaique." It is very obvious that Erie Montaigue's instructor did not teach him much. Erie Montaigue is so unaware of what he is talking about that he appears almost laughable. However, many people who are not familiar with dim-mak, nerve, muscle, and blood gate attacking would fall for his garbage hook, line, and sinker. Here is a warning to all who are considering buying any of his material; "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY," he doesn't have a clue. If he did, he would realize that the majority of pressure points not only require a specific angle and direction to be attacked, but also necessitate that the opponent be in a specific position for the techniques to work. When the opponent is in the proper position he will expose an anatomical weakness that would not normally be venerable to attack or respond to outside stimuli. Dear Mr. Montaigue cut out the nonsense and go find a good instructor that might teach you a point or two. Kyoshi Dexter M. Brown, 6th degree black belt RyuKyu Kempo Karate, 5th degree black belt Goju Karate, 5th degree black belt Ninjitsu, 5th degree black belt Aiki-jujutsu, 1st degree black belt Samurai arnis and ve-jitsu arnis.

As a master instructor in the martial arts and as a police officer survival skills instructor, I have the training, experience and knowledge to train almost any technique of self-defense. I found my pressure point strikes and control holds to be my weakest knowledge base, so I purchased this encyclopedia and that is exactly what this book is, an exteremely informative encyclopedia. It is full of pressure point meridians and applications of such. But, it is like studying a text book from medical school. I am a working cop & a part time graduate student working toward a doctoral degree in adult education and this book has more knowledge listed than most of the $100.00 text books I must purchase for school. I have yet to complete the entire text, and wonder if I will ever get around to it. So, the book is worth every penny to those individuals willing to read and re-read the material and willing to committ to memory all of the meridians and application of said. The author has done an excellent job of compiling data and presenting detailed photos and illustrations, along with the appropriate text. This book is not for the novice or the quick fix type person, it will require alot of study and practice with an enlightened instructor. Buy the book.
