Same Old Stuff January 5, 2007 33 out of 45 found this review helpful
Think positive thoughts and life will be better. Where have we heard that before? Norman Vincent Peale and many others before and since. It would be nice if this book actually told the reader "how". Instead, it is just testimonials--not science, not new. Just the same old stuff.
It Works! January 5, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I'd seen the movie and had wished there was a book for me to read. Walked into a store and there it was waiting for me at the front door. Am now about 2/3s the way through this book and it is working like magic for me. Got the impossible parking space yesterday, have been receiving a check in the mail for several days now, got two surprise days off of work this week for no reason other than I wished for it, a friend I had not spoken to and had been thinking about called me out of the blue to say Hi and I could go on with more examples.
My point is read the book with an open mind and just try asking for a few small things to come into your life. You will be pleasantly amazed how easy and quickly things arrive.
Have also noticed now that I am regularly saying "thank you", the world has been such a nice place to be in. I have complete strangers smiling at me and starting up friendly conversations for no reason. It has been wonderful and have to say, I am now enjoying life so much more and really mean it when I tell people "I feel great!"
Your thoughts create reality within the realm of SANITY January 4, 2007 15 out of 25 found this review helpful
Since I have known the material to get into the hands of people with bonafide OCD or clinical anxiety and threw them over the deep end into serious phobias. I do believe that our thoughts create our reality (goal setting) but within the range of sanity since last I checked humans don't have the capacity to grow wings and fly south for the winter. The Secret is very dangerous as is What the Bleep and the Ramtha connection.
this has been done bfore, but I enjoyed this book January 4, 2007 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
The idea of 'seeing what you want and getting it' has been done before but this book was enjoyable. I enjoyed The Secret Language of Hypnotherapy by John Smale as a guide to visualizing and affirming goals. I also read the idea in God's Day Off but in a more mystical way. Despite that, I enjoyed The Secret and the way in which it was written.
"The Secret" Is No Secret January 4, 2007 23 out of 35 found this review helpful
"The Secret" is not really a secret at all. This book's premise has been written about (although not in "The DaVinci Code" genre) in countless self-help books over the years - the most popular and enduring being Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking." "The secret" is repeated ad nauseum through quotes from various New Age gurus for 184 mind-numbing pages. The numerous celebrity talk-show endorsements only makes "The Secret" and its "Oh my gosh!" DVD a best-selling gold mine for its authors. It reveals nothing new.
