Eat This, Not That October 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent book. It actually allows people to visualize this thing called "calories." It has really changed my life, keeping me from ordering the bad items out of restaurant menu. Highly recommend it. A must buy.
How about brown-bagging it instead, folks? October 18, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
While it's a VERY interesting book with lots of colorful references as well as REALLY delicious photos of restaurant food (with a few being purposefully made to look yucky), I think we should learn to take along naturally healthy food for lunch like turkey or lean beef on whole wheat, raw veggies, fresh fruit, etc. instead of eating out all the time, which would probably cost too much anyway. What's more, I think eating out is meant to be pleasant and a "special treat", not merely filling a body with necessary nourishment; that's why there are lots of mouth-watering steaks, juicy burgers, cheesy spaghetti, gooey desserts, alcoholic drinks, etc. on most of restaurant menus.
To be frank, if we knew any better about food, we wouldn't be needing those "experts" to tell us what to eat or not (not ALL of the "recommended" selections are really wholesome or even non-fattening to begin with.)
Informative...if you were born yesterday! October 15, 2008 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
Hey you Yo-Yo dieters looking to be on the next trendy diet only to get fatter! This book disgusts me. There is no nutritional epiphany, no eating revolution and certainly no education to gain from this book. Chocolate as you know it from the store has been processed to a point where there is only a fraction of the nutrients from the cacao bean which is a superfood. Chocolate should not be on any health concerned persons diet. Egg McMuffins, donuts, cheese, burgers, et cetera...how is this going to save you from heart trouble, high blood pressure, strokes and any manner of health issues. If you want to lose weight, gain energy and be your physical best I suggest you check out You Are What You Eat by Gillian McKeith
Decent October 12, 2008 There's a fair amount of swaps... I guess I just expected more options than what's in it. But the info that is in there I think is quite helpful.
What to eat? October 11, 2008 This book was really useful. It's easy on the eye due to lots of colorful pictures (of food yay!) and there's plenty of useful stats. If you're a bit of a lazy dieter as I am, and indeed most people I know, then this is a handy little book to have. You can happily save yourself a few calories here and there just by following the tips in the book. It's not for people looking for something trendy, this is a back to basic diet for those of us that don't want to think too hard about it all. A good purchase.
