Silly Book January 27, 2008 22 out of 46 found this review helpful
This book is a waste of time. i thought it would help more with everyday life and what to keep in my kitchen. i was looking for a "instead of this" in your pantry substitute "this". This book is all fast food replacements, such as if your going to eat fast food, have a big mac instead of a whopper! Gee, thanks!

I subscribe to Men's Health and this is a book they recommended. Bought it and was surprised at how much difference there is between different fast food places. Good information on all kinds of food in many places. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rodale? January 25, 2008 13 out of 39 found this review helpful
it is sad that a formally forward thinking company like Rodale, the place that has been touting the benefits of organic and whole foods for years, is behind a book that is basically advocating a processed foods diet. I'm sure they justify by saying they are helping readers make healthier choices. What happen to the Rodale mission?
Disappointed - I don't eat fast foods January 25, 2008 91 out of 155 found this review helpful
This book is mostly about fast foods and fast food restaurants. It says eat this fast food not that fast food.
I was hoping for a book that spoke to substitution for real foods. I wanted something that said substitute this real food for something similar that is less fattening. What it doesn't say is things like: don't eat butter when there are wonderful jams that have no sugar and are just 10 calories a spoonful. It also doesn't say things like: don't make your dip from sour creme use yogurt instead because yogurt tastes just the same as sour creme in a dip and is less fattening.
I never eat in McDonald's and those other places because everything sold there is very, very, very fattening regardless of any substitution you can make there.
I am disappointed with this book. It is just an exploration of fattening fast foods. I had hoped for something with more substance.

Mostly helpful with shopping selections, but found that most fast food restaurants were unknown to me.
