2 out of 5 stars Osho and Tolle   May 24, 2006

Steve Right wrote "In this book Tolle takes the teachings of Osho, krishnamurti, Buddha and the new non duality theory and tries to make them his own..."
I agree with Steve. I would like to contact him. my email: v_stanca@yahoo.com

It is possible Eckhart just to tell words heard from Osho, without enlightment. A few from Krishnamurti, too...2* for Osho ideas, anyway...I wonder if he met Osho, or just read his words, like me...
STEVE: What about Osho, did you meet him?

5 out of 5 stars Extremely Enlightening Book   May 22, 2006

In the book A New Earth Awakening To Your Life Purpose written by Eckhart Tolle, Eckhart provides a brilliant introduction to the opening of Oneness with the Universe. On a rating scale of one to five I would rate this book at 100 (highly above a 5). However, I feel like the real purpose of this book is not to inform a person of the True meaning of Consciousness; it is to help a person understand that we ARE Consciousness; that we are all interconnected spiritual Beings with the same Power of the Universe. If you are looking for a "how to" book then this book will most likely be a dissappoitment; because the answers you ask are already within yourself. Ego is what prevents a person from connecting to the answers; and I feel like the message that Eckhart really wants to help provide through this book is not "Here is information to help you understand the relationship between Consciousness and Ego" but that it is "There is a seed of awareness that wants to take hold of your hand; you did not find this book, this book found you through my writings. Open up your mind, and join it."

4 out of 5 stars the end of purpose   May 4, 2006

this book is remarkable and invaluable in it's description of the roll of the ego and as a guide toward greater awareness of the essence of the human experience.i am however a bit curious and mystified by the emphasis on purpose.
if purpose means the reason that something exists or the function it serves then it is clearly within the realm of thought or logic, ergo the realm of ego.i would venture to say that the very need to "have, recognize or discover ones purpose",could effectively hinder an individual from recognizing their true nature and learning to abide in that which simply is.my personal experience of this"isness"is that there is nothing else that is needed such as an understanding or thought that "this is my purpose".for me it is the experience of the "peace that passeth understanding" and the "joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart...to STAY"as in forever.so,purpose,in my experience is at best superfluous and at worst an insidious ploy of the ego.
if you wish to experience true freedom from form and ego try letting go of purpose and simply being.in so doing you instantly allign yourself with and experience harmony with nature.this has nothing to do with understanding and everything to do with flow and the natural rythm of life.
as far as raising our conscious awareness being our "ultimate purpose"...this seems at odds with one of the fundamental aspects of reality as i have expereinced it which is that there is always a bigger picture.so even though the evolution of our conscious awareness is a very important part of the evolution of nature let's not sell ourselves short and say it is our defining and ultimate purpose but rather that the universe may have something even more wonderous in store for us that we are yet unaware of.a little humility might help us "let go into the mystery of life"as van the man so eloquently put it.
finally.thank you mr.tolle for the most easily accessible distillation and presentation of this ancient and vital information that,in my almost forty years of exposure to such ideas,i have ever come across.
yours,steve fosker, a.k.a.egoterorist

5 out of 5 stars Amazing   May 4, 2006

This book (audio version) not only gives the down-to-earth explanations of our existance but gives us the tools so we can become aware and make changes we wish to make. I am an avid reader on this type of work from many sources but this book far exceeds most. I resonated with what was said and understood with ease. I will listen to this book many times as it is a comfort as well as instructional.

This is a great book for anyone interested in exploring the possibilities of life.

In it Tolle invites the reader to consider simple things - the 'is-ness' of a flower, the expanding (and arguably)contracting universe, the importance of living a life in the now, of living in accordance with nature and your own true essence to find your life's purpose.

Easy to read - a timely book.
