Very helpful and insightful.

4 out of 5 stars Would recommend   May 12, 2007

Very insightful. Loved the fact that most of it was from a male's point of view. It was helpful to me and I have already applied some suggestions into my own relationship...and it actually works!

Now all you have to do is get your wives to write a "User's Guide" for men!

2 out of 5 stars For the NOW generation or the One Night Stand, not for building that lasting relationship!   May 9, 2007

The author is attempting to make men too simplistic as if the intended female readers are not going to understand the complex nature of men and women in general.

The basis of the book is supposedly polled from a relatively small number of people that apparently do not take into account that there are other cultural aspects to consider as well as age. Apparently this polling was geared more towards the American as well as those with English in general.

The subtitle "Complete User's Guide" sums up the object of the book. It's wording thru out suggests that usage is what relationships are all about. The keys not actually highlighted enough in this author's work are that relationships that last are based on a blend of sharing, understanding and reaching some agreement on how to maintain the relationship.

As to the sex part of the book, it's just a selling point than actual communicating the basic needs between two people.

I would recommend The New Male Sexuality, Revised Edition by Bernie Zilbergeld. It has better value than this attempt to provide a quick fix to this author's wallet then to your relationship understanding.

5 out of 5 stars What Men Really Want   May 8, 2007

2 out of 5 stars All It Needs Is The Ads To Be A Magazine   May 8, 2007
7 out of 8 found this review helpful

I picked up a copy of this book after reading the author's blog on yahoo about five things not to say on a date. To be honest, I didn't think the blog was good at all but the idea of the book seemed interesting, so I got it. I should have gone with my initial instinct. Be pretty, be alluring, it goes on and on with advice like that. The sidebars are annoying and make it feel just like a magazine. All it needs are the ads selling us what we need to be pretty and alluring. By surveying bunches of men, it doesn't get into any real depth about what they're thinking; again, just like a magazine. What are we supposed to think when the men's answers contradict each other, which happens as often as it does in, again, magazine surveys? If you want to know what really goes thru a guy's mind (and I mean really), read God Is a Woman: Dating Disasters. It delivers on what this book promises but misses and is hilarious, as well as extremely insightful and effective.
