Nice holster - not perfect April 17, 2008 First, I got this holster because I was signed up for a shooting class, and it seemed like a good idea to have one. Also, since I wasn't planning on carrying my gun as a sidearm, the price was right.
The holster is made of a hard, yet flexible plastic, so when you place the paddle inside your pants it's pretty damn confortable. The problem is the holster is made for military/police use, so the design is rather unique. It holds your gun in place by grabbing the trigger guard when fully inserted. Drawing the gun is accomplished by giving the gun a quick, hard draw. Pulling slowly will not remove the gun and only give you a wedgy. So, it stays secure if you are running or jumping, and if someone tries to grab your gun they will find it difficult to do so. I couldn't get my gun out of the holster until I read the directions.
So, if you are looking for an inexpensive paddle holster that will really secure your gun without any kind of a strap, this may be what you are looking for. But, if you are looking for a holster that simply cradles your gun, allowing for a smooth, effortless draw, you might want to keep looking. I mean, it works and it's nice, but it's no $100 custom leather holster.
As for concealment: If you can figure out how to conceal a Baretta 92 on your side in a paddle holster, I guess you can use it for concealment.
Good Value for the $ February 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All Fobus Holsters are of good quality and will secure a handgun well. You can adjust the draw tension through the use of two screws on this side. This holster is NOT suitable for concealed carry....it sits too far away from the body, but for open carry of range use it is excellent. I have used one on my last two deployments for carrying a Baretta M-9 (Model 92F) aroind the FOB. I have not used it "outside the wire"....a thigh holster fits the bill for that task. Overall a decent holster for it's intended use.
Good, but flawed. April 19, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The idea is good. I already had the standard paddle holster and bought this because I wanted to experiment with different angles. What I learned is that the standard angle on the rigid paddle holster is perfect for me. The small additional offset that the Roto mechanism adds makes the pistol stand noticeably further out, it also reduces the rigidity of the holster and I find this allows the pistol to bind and hang up. This one also has an imperfect fit to the pistol. Not great. For me this is relegated to being a curiosity, I may try it on the tactical leg rig.
Great Holster February 24, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this thing!! I wear it all day, except when I'm flying, then I have a SafariLand Thigh Holster, but for arround the base it is a welcome relief. It rides great. I sometimes forget that I have it on. It did take a bit to find the sweet spot for sitting down, but I'd be whinning up a storm without it.
The best holster in the world November 6, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've tried many holsters for snub-nosed revolvers, long-barrel revolvers, compact autos, and large-frame autos. The Fobus holster is the best for all of them! It is lightweight, comfortable, and doesn't draw/retain moisture like leather and nylon holsters. The retention feature makes it nearly impossible to have the weapon drawn by anyone but you. It does, however, take a little practice to learn to draw the weapon smoothly, but once you get use to it, you'll never go back to inferior and expensive leather again.
